Currently Working on.....

I am currently working on the following:

SAVANT - Book 2 of the Alien Invasion (expected late 2018)

Z - Book 4 of the Zombie Apocalypse (expected early 2019)

Z - Journal (I’m toying with the idea of a first person view of the Zombie Apocalypse, effectively Book 3.5)

HUNTED - A completely new standalone book

Future Books

SAVANT - Book 3 of the Alien Invasion

Z - Book 5

I would be interested if you have any comments / views

  1. I think you should spend more time on developing your characters and especially some relationships between them in Hatcett. I did not feel like I knew any of the characters enough so that I cared if they were killed off or not. While the preparations made by the characers to survive disaster was good, believable, unique, and well thought out, it should not be so extensive that you sacrifice character development. You are very talented, but remember to develop your character and relationships more. You were handicapped by no one rescuing their loved ones because that would have given you significant emotional impact.. arranging cars to protect everyone was a good, but perhaps you should have considered not letting it dominate the book. Good luck!

    1. Donna,

Many thanks for your comments. As a new author, this sort of feedback is ideal and just what I need to improve my writing and understand what different people want. I assume we are talking about 'Book 1 - Arrival' and if I'm being honest, I know that what you are saying about characters and relationships is spot on as your feedback is echoed in some of the other comments on Amazon.

This is without doubt the most difficult part of writing for me (I actually find it a bit slow and boring - typical male!) and I find myself just wanting to get on with the story and move on to the next scene as quickly as possible. I certainly felt that detouring too far into relationships might break the flow of the story so I sort of left hints knowing that I could expand upon them further down the line in other books.

I did consider for some time whether to get into the detail of rescuing loved ones, and with hindsight I should have done so rather than just allude to it happening in the background. A good opportunity missed.

It would be great if you could read 'Book 2 - London' because I think you will find out more about the characters etc, little snippets here and there, and I would be very interested to know if you feel like you're beginning to know and care about them.

If you are able to leave a positive review on Amazon it would be appreciated - I need all the help I can get!
